Spring Home Refresh

You know spring is that time of year when we all come out of winter hibernation and “refresh” everything…our wardrobes, our nails, and our homes. I’ve teamed up with some precious bloggers to share how we “refreshed” an area of our home for Spring.  You will find links to all their blogs at the bottom of this post.

I had been planning to do a wall treatment of some sort behind the bed in the master bedroom.  I had a hard time deciding between brick and shiplap but in the end, I went with the cheaper and easier option…shiplap. And instead of doing just one wall, I did them all.  The other big refresh in this room is the floors! I had been wanting to get rid of the nasty carpet for quite some time…well, since we moved in. I love the clean look of wood floors and the fact that they are actually “clean”.

Here is a photo of how the room looked previously.

And this is how it looks now.

I added some touches of aqua for the spring.  Some buffalo check panel curtains and pillows made from dish towels.

I commissioned the talented Ashley Anthony to create a painting to go over our bed. The Shady Grove with 5 sheep that represent my 5 children.  I just LOVE it!

I painted  and distressed the pine hutch that now holds our TV. I hate cords and screens so I hid the cords in some wooden boxes and the television is behind a chalk board.

I love bright crisp white bedding to bring a cool feeling to the room during our hot Georgia summers. The Euro shams are from Homegoods, the white lace shams are from Gilt and the “I Love Us” is from my sweet friend Erin of Bows and Burlap Designs.

Our bedside tables were painted a country grey by Annie Sloan but the color came across green in low light.  I freshened them up with The Olde Barn Vintage  Milk paint in their picket fence color and I like it much better.

We have a small sitting area in our room where we binge watch Netfilx and HGTV. I also have lots of family pictures here. The antique lamp is from my Nana and I played with it all the time when I was a little girl.
