Sunday Sheep Ponderings – December 20, 2015 and January 3, 2016

Pondering today on resolutions.

Yes, I want to loose a few pounds. Yes, I want to be more productive. Yes, there are things I want to do better. But it’s 2016 and I am still here. Why? Why was I born? Why am I here? What’s it all for?

I think we as humans come up with small goals we can conquer and attain so that we feel somewhat in “control” in this crazy big world. I understand this well and I think it is why I try so hard to keep my home so clean and organized…it’s one of the few things I can control.

We are told in Romans 8 that “those of us He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son”. People have built religions and doctrines around this verse and made it WAY more complicated than it is! Why do humans do that…a pondering for another day perhaps.

Paul is basically saying something so beautiful and full of hope.

Let’s read it simply and with no religious filters. For those of us He knew before we even existed in this physical world (that’s ALL of us), He wired us in advance to be like Jesus. We WERE and ARE created in the image of God and we HAVE the very spirit of God, the breath of God within us.

So why are we here? Why were we born? What’s it all for?

We are here to LOVE.
We are here to ACCEPT.
We are here to HEAL.
We are here to REVEAL.
We are here to ENCOURAGE.
We are here to BRING LIGHT.
We are here to AWAKEN.
We are here to LIFT UP.
We are here to OFFER HOPE.

Resolutions are fine but BEING who you were created to be is not only life changing but life giving! And that’s the real meaning of our story!
So this year and every other year, Lets resolve to “be” the real us. No striving or performing, just “be” who HE says you are…HIS.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! May you AWAKEN to Truth more than ever before this year and may you experience the unconditional LOVE of God like never before! It’s going to be a beautiful year on our journeys and I am so excited for us to see things we never saw before, to know things we never knew before and to love like we’ve never loved before! Here we go…

Sorry for double posting but I forgot to post this a couple weeks ago.

Sunday Sheep Pondering – December 20, 2015

Pondering today on unconditional love and all the “buts” we add to it.

Christmas is upon us and I’m reminded of a song.

He sees you when you’re sleeping.
He knows when you’re awake.
He knows if you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake.

I think most parents and grandparents have used the “Santa’s watching” line a time or two to get the kids to behave a little better at Christmas. But have you ever heard someone use the same tactics about God? Do you by chance have this mindset that God is “up there” watching and “keeping a list and checking it twice”? Do you say you believe in the unconditional love of God but then comes the list of “buts”. God is love BUT you have to do your part. God is forgiveness BUT you have to ask for it. God is grace BUT only for some situations. God is your Father BUT only if you ask Him to be. God is in some BUT not in others. Yes Wendy, I see what you’re saying BUT, BUT, BUT. I understand because I was full of BUTS for many, many years. I was like the queen of the “but” girls. I once heard it said that what you believe about God comes after the “buts” and we have over 10,000 denominations to prove it.

God IS love, God IS forgiveness, God IS grace, God IS your father and God IS the very source of life within you. Whether you know it, or believe it or accept it…It is WHO He is. He is who He is, no matter what and He is love. When you come face to face with this UNCONDITIONAL love, you will “fall on your knees”, your “soul will feel it’s worth” and “along with a weary world, you will rejoice”! You will KNOW the true meaning of Christmas.
May your Christmas be full of people you love, food you devour and joy you can not contain! (Gentle reminder, these are MY ponderings and are meant to encourage and prompt your own ponderings. No debating or “correcting” in the comments please)
